My schooling at N.P Mathabela Secondary in the Mpumalanga Province

a group of grade 12 learners in the year 2012

Seven years ago I got admitted at a school by the name of N.P Mathabela Secondary which under Athurseat circuit in the Bohlabela region at Acornhoek. It felt great to be in Secondary School as I saw where I was going with my education and life. Two years passed and I was now in grade 10 where I had to choose a stream and I had to make the best choice of subjects which were Sepedi (HL), English (FAL), Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and lastly was Life Orientation, on Life Orientation I had no choice as it was compulsory.

I managed to progress to grade 11 where now school was a bit challenging due to peer pressure and school demanding more time to sit behind a desk and study but as I knew why I was at school it wasn't that difficult. I managed to pass to grade 12 where now everything was a challenge. Grade 12 for me was year that I had to be more serious with my studies and put more effort and work for good results that will help me to gain access at a University Level. I did what I had to do as a learner, I sacrificed my time on studies and forgot about other things, I stopped doing other things and gave my all to my studies.

As grade 12 learners we saw it wisely to create study groups. We had two study groups of Life Sciences and Agricultural Sciences and the second group was Physical Sciences and Mathematics were we used to meet in the afternoons and helped each other. It wasn't easy to remain at school in the afternoons as it was too hot and hunger attacked us but we just persevered because we knew that we were going to reap what we were sowing and indeed I am now reaping I sow.
